ABI research swine are raised in a large, isolated breeding and growing swine complex Doylestown, PA. All Yorkshire crossbred pigs are managed by professional porcine specialists and veterinarians to maintain the highest standards of health and genetics.
- All growing areas are state-of-the-art, climate controlled buildings.
- Growing pigs receive special diets formulated on the farm for each age and weight group according to the NRC (National Research Council) (1983) recommendations
Our Healthy Breeding and Research Swine Herds
- The ABI breeding herd has been monitored annually for brucellosis and pseudorabies, and has tested negative since 1994.
- The herd also tests negative for Salmonella Species.
- All production herd animals are vaccinated for Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), Circovirus and Swine Influenza Virus (SIV).
- The breeding herd is wormed with Ivomec and vaccinated for Leptospirosis, Erysipelas and PRRS prior to breeding.
- Young research swine receive iron at three days of age. They are vaccinated for Rhinitis, Mycoplasma and Hemophilus Pneumonia, and are wormed with Fenbendazole at weaning.
- The pigs continue to receive Fenbendazole every four weeks until they grow out of the sales inventory weight range, which prevents internal parasite infestation and larval migration.
- The ABI research swine herd has tested negative for Malignant Hyperthermia (MH). All genetics introduced into the herd are free of the MH (Stress) gene.
- ABI has high-quality Yorkshire Crossbred research pigs available at all ages, sexes and weights, all year-round.
Animal Delivery to Boston, MA Research Labs
Located in Doylestown, PA, Animal Biotech Industries has a state-of-the-art delivery truck fleet that includes highly customized light- and medium-duty box trucks. The ABI delivery trucks traveling to Boston, MA combine fresh and climate-controlled air for the animals during delivery via Thermo-King Shuttleaire systems that deliver fresh air at a rate as high as 100 air changes per hour.
It is critical to deliver the animals in a stress-free environment, and because of this, ABI takes swine delivery to the highest level.

- ABI’s highly trained delivery drivers are required to maintain extremely detailed records of the cargo climate and the animals’ behavior during the delivery. This is accomplished by computerized systems, manual checks and camera systems.
ABI and can provide live animal models and porcine cadavers within a 400-mile radius of Bucks County, PA where our pigs are raised. Porcine Tissue Shipping to Boston, MA Research Labs
All Animal Biotech Industries, Inc., post mortem pig tissues are harvested fresh according to Boston, MA client specifications and are immediately chilled at 35-37 degrees Fahrenheit. ABI maintains this temperature throughout the tissue processing, packaging and shipping procedures until they reach the client facility.
- All transportation of ABI’s post mortem tissues is done via FedEx from Doylestown, PA.
- Clients are included in the inner tracking circle with FedEx so all parties stay informed of the status of the packages while in transit until clients receive them.
