As a lead supplier of post mortem porcine tissue, ABI works with highly trained specialists to ensure that quality specimens are harvested. ABI's state-of-the-art, climate-controlled facility houses a sterile processing lab. Specimens are acquired to exact client specifications in this contaminate-free environment. ABI operations meet and exceed guidelines set forth in the:

  • The Guide for the Care and Use of Agricultural Animals in Ag. Research and Teaching, 1988.

ABI research swine are raised in a multipurose complex with isolated breeding and growing swine facilities in Bucks County, PA. All Yorkshire crossbred pigs are managed by professional porcine specialists and veterinarians to maintain the highest standards of health and genetics. Growing pigs receive special diets formulated on the farm for each age and weight group according to the NRC (National Research Council) (1983) recommendations.

Our Healthy Breeding and Research Swine Herds
  • The ABI breeding herd has tested negative since 1994 for brucellosis and pseudorabies, for which it is monitored yearly.
  • The herd tests negative for Salmonella Species.
  • All production herd animals are vaccinated for Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), Circovirus and Swine Influenza Virus (SIV).
  • Prior to breeding, the breeding herd is wormed with Ivomec and vaccinated for Leptospirosis, Erysipelas and PRRS.
  • Young research swine receive iron at three days of age. At weaning they are vaccinated for Rhinitis, Mycoplasma and Hemophilus Pneumonia, and are wormed with Fenbendazole.
  • The pigs continue to receive Fenbendazole every four weeks until they grow out of the sales inventory weight range in order to prevent internal parasite infestation and larval migration.
  • The ABI research swine herd has tested negative for Malignant Hyperthermia (MH). Genetics introduced into the herd are free of the MH (Stress) gene.
  • ABI has high-quality Yorkshire Crossbred research pigs available at all ages, sexes and weights, all year-round.

Porcine Tissue Shipping to Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN Research Labs


All Animal Biotech Industries, Inc., post mortem pig tissues are harvested fresh according to the specification of our Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN clients. After harvesting tissue is immediately chilled at 35-37 degrees Fahrenheit. ABI maintains this temperature throughout the tissue processing, packaging and shipping procedures until they reach the client facility using our tested shipping method.

  • All transportation of ABI’s post mortem tissues is done via FedEx.
  • Clients are included in the inner tracking circle with FedEx so all parties stay informed of the status of the packages while in transit until they reach the clients' research facility.

We closely monitor client packages to be sure they are not held up during the delivery process.

The buildings that make up ABI’s multipurpose research swine complex are state-of-the-art. There are separately isolated areas for breeding, gestation, weaning, growing and holding animals.
The purpose is to increase production in order to meet the demands of our clientele, and to create an atmosphere that allows ABI to produce the healthiest research swine in the industry.
